TBC Talent Build FAQ
How do talent builds work in TBC Classic?
In The Burning Crusade Classic, each class has three talent trees with a total of 61 talent points available at level 70. You spend points to unlock passive bonuses and powerful abilities that define your specialization. Most builds invest heavily in one tree (the "main" spec) while picking up key utility talents from a secondary tree.
Can I respec my talents in TBC?
Yes. Visit your class trainer in any capital city to reset your talents. The cost starts at 1 gold and increases by 5 gold each time you respec, up to a maximum of 50 gold. The cost gradually decreases back toward 1 gold if you wait without respeccing. Many players keep a PvE build for raiding and swap to a PvP build on weekends.
What is the best DPS class in TBC Classic?
The top DPS specs in TBC Classic are Beast Mastery Hunter, Destruction Warlock, and Arcane Mage. However, every class has at least one viable DPS spec for endgame raids. The best spec for you depends on your playstyle, available gear, and whether you prefer ranged or melee combat.
Should I use a PvE or PvP talent build?
It depends on what content you spend the most time doing. PvE builds maximize damage output or healing throughput for raids and dungeons, while PvP builds prioritize survivability, burst damage, and crowd control. Some specs like Arms Warrior and Shadow Priest have builds that work reasonably well in both, but a dedicated build will always outperform a hybrid one in its intended content.
How many talent points do I get in TBC?
You earn your first talent point at level 10 and one additional point per level after that, for a total of 61 talent points at the level cap of 70. TBC added new talents at the bottom of each tree that require at least 40 points invested in that tree to unlock, making deep specialization more rewarding.
