Marksmanship Hunter

Ranged DPS low demand

A precision shooter focused on big Aimed Shots and personal damage, but generally outperformed by BM and Survival.

How It Feels to Play

Marksmanship is the 'sniper' fantasy. You care about your own shots, not your pet's damage. Aimed Shot hits hard, Trueshot Aura buffs your whole party's attack power, and your crits feel chunky. In PvP, Marksmanship shines. Scatter Shot into a Freezing Trap is one of the best CC chains in the game, and Silencing Shot shuts down casters.

In PvE, though, Marksmanship is the awkward middle child. It doesn't match BM's raw damage output in early tiers, and it doesn't provide the Expose Weakness debuff that makes Survival valuable in later tiers. You'll do respectable damage, but raid leaders will usually ask 'Why aren't you BM or Survival?'

That said, Marks is a perfectly viable spec for dungeons and casual raiding. If you enjoy the direct-damage playstyle and don't want to worry about pet management, it's a legitimate choice. Trueshot Aura alone makes you welcome in any melee-heavy group.

41 into Marksmanship for Silencing Shot, 20 into Survival for Killer Instinct (3% crit) and Lightning Reflexes (15% Agility). Trueshot Aura is your group buff. The rotation is similar to BM (steady shot weave), but without pet damage being as significant.

Hit cap first, then Agility is strong for Marks due to crit scaling. Attack Power benefits your shots directly. Crit is important for Aimed Shot and Auto Shot damage. Intellect helps with mana longevity.
